The Central European timber and forestry industry will meet once again in Klagenfurt from 1 to 4 September 2016 to find out all the latest trends in their trade at the International Wood Fair and the Holz&Bau event. More than 500 exhibitors from 22 nations represent the entire value chain on a 30,000 m2 exhibition space: from forestry to sawmill technology, from green energy to logistics, from structural engineering with timber to joinery & carpentry supplies.
With 22,000 trade visitors from Austria and abroad, the International Wood Fair Klagenfurt is the leading trade show for the forestry and timber industry in Central and South-eastern Europe. “We present a unique and representative cross-section of the entire value chain“, says Ceo Erich Hallegger and underlines the unique selling proposition of the Wood Fair within the European trade show scene. Its unique position makes the trade show so immensely attractive for high-level trade visitors, of whom 36 percent come from abroad. At the last event in 2014, 50 percent of all visitors were sole decision-makers in their companies. The Timber Fair more than lives up to its reputation as an international trade show: One in three of the 500 suppliers here comes from outside Austria; and the trend is growing.
Forestry: from cable cranes to timber harvesters
Forestry is the largest exhibition segment of the International Wood Fair and already fully booked. Interested visitors will find a wide range of exhibits from forestry tools, timber harvesting techniques, forest stand management, to cable crane technology and much more. The “who is who” of the international forestry industry has booked representative exhibition stands. We are proud to announce the latest new exhibitor: Miller Forest Investment AG, a company that offers forest investment in South America and ecological financial investment opportunities, among other innovative ideas.
Sawmill Technology: from cutting systems to mobile saws
All the top suppliers of sawmill equipment and timber drying equipment – including Rudnik & Enners, Ewd, Weinig, Vecoplan, Ledinek, TKM Austria, Primultini, Link, TC-Maschinenbau, Stingl, Springer, Microtec, Urbas, KCO, Baljer & Zembrod, MS-Maschinenbau, Schirmböck, HIT-Maschinbau, Mühlböck, Polytechnik, Valon Kone, Holtec, Vollmer Austria, and more – will again exhibit at the International Wood Fair. Visitors from the trade can look forward to all-encompassing information: The products exhibited range from sawmill engineering and cutting systems, to timber drying methods and site measuring, debarking equipment and IT-supported optimisation systems.
Transport & Logistics
Professional timber trade would have been left standing without perfect transportation and logistics providers. The big names in the business such as Ressenig, Mercedes Benz, Schwarzmüller, Kogler, Penz or Wiegele Trucks exhibit their individualised transportation solutions, truck trailers and bodies at the International Wood Fair. The exhibits range from stacker trucks and storage systems, to tractor units and IT networks and service providers for road, rail and sea transport.
Bio Energy & Environmental engineering
Green energy is becoming an ever more popular alternative to fossil fuels. It helps protect natural resources and reduces harmful emissions. But before biomass (in the form of wood, straw, corn, oilseed rape, or organic waste) can be used as a fuel to generate electricity or heat, it needs to go through various technical processes. This exhibition segment of the International Wood Fair includes various energy carriers, small-scale power station, screening and shredding systems plus combustion and environmental engineering systems. The established suppliers Herz, Eta, Hdg Bavaria, Viessmann or Hargassner are joined by new exhibitor Heger Edelstahl, an innovative company that will present heat recuperation plants, flue gas condensers and economisers.
Holz&Bau: The trade show for joiners and carpenters
Holz&Bau event is already in its third year and will be held simultaneously with the International Wood Fair. Holz&Bau is the most important hub for master carpenters in Austria. Everything needed for “timber construction” is presented on an exhibition space of 11,000 m2. The exhibits range from the latest hand-held machines and timber construction software, to timber construction systems, wood materials, joining techniques and literature on timber; technical and vocational schools present their courses and curricula. The main target groups of this trade show are master carpenters, the timber industry, the joinery industry, producers of prefab buildings, roofing and tinsmith companies.
NEW: SURFACE COATING – Surface coating is a new topic of the multi-faceted product portfolio, with all the prominent players exhibiting at HOLZ&BAU, including Henelit Lackfabrik that offers surface coating for wood and tools, SIGA COVER GmbH with its heavy-duty adhesives for air- and wind-tight building envelopes, Seico with hollow fibre insulating materials, or Ralmont-PTW, a company that offers sealing films, silicones, foams and adhesives, and the Renner company that will present compressors at the trade show.
MANY NOVELTIES AT SCHMIDT’s – A regular and must-see at HOLZ&BAU is the joint exhibition stand of company Schmidt’s that covers more than 600 m2. This year, all the big names of electric tool production will be exhibiting at the WOOD FAIR, including Festool, Makita, Bosch, DeWalt, Fein, Panasonic, Lamello and Aircraft. Visitors can try the equipment on testing stations on site. Another highlight and also new to the trade show are the companies Wera and Knipex that represent the top league of the tool sector. MSC is a new exhibitor from Italy; the company presents dehumidifying equipment and heaters of the Master product group. And last but not least “Schmidt’s C-Teile System” is an intelligent solution for shelf management and magazine management.
PROGRAMME: from the Federal apprenticeship competition of the carpentry trade to Timber Day
TheInternational Wood Fair is known for its very popular side events, competitions and other highlights.
TALENTED NEWCOMERS The Economic Chamber of Carinthia holds the Federal Apprenticeship Competition of the carpentry trade at the INTERNATIONAL WOOD FAIR. On the first two days of the trade show, the national team which is to represent Austria in Basel will hold a spectacular training session on site. The dramatic Austrian apprentices’ competition will be held on Saturday and Sunday. Visitors can see for themselves all the outstanding skills of our local newcomers to the carpenter trade at this crowd-pulling event.
THE FASTEST WOOD HARVESTERS The last decade has seen a major increase in the use of harvesters, forwarders and other machinery that are now common equipment even of owners of small woods. The Ossiach Forest Training Institute is organising a special harvester and forwarder competition on the occasion of the INTERNATIONAL WOOD FAIR. The contestants will compete in categories such as “grade-wise loading”, “cross-wise stacking”, “stacking of cuttings”, “felling” and “cutting”. The first two days of the fair are dedicated to training, and the exciting competitions will be held on Saturday and Sunday.
FOCUS ON TIMBER CONSTRUCTION The “2nd Klagenfurt Timber Construction Meeting” on 1 September 2016 at 12.30 is jointly organised by Graz University of Technology and the Chamber of Civil Engineers. The topic of the event is “Supplying and Encasing – Interfaces of Timber Construction with Building Services and Facade Engineering”. Another event in this area is the “3rd International Forum-Holzbau Workshop” held by the regional guild “Holzbau Kärnten” on 2 September 2016 at 2 in the afternoon. Not to forget the popular social event on 3 September 2016: the “Morning Pint” event of the master carpenters.
INTERNATIONAL TIMBER DAY – The International Timber Day organised by the Trade Association of the Austrian Timber Industry is a well-established tradition. This year it will be held on Friday, 2 September 2016.
NEW PRODUCTS: from side loaders to innovative hall systems
KALMAR ELECTRIC FORKLIFT model: 5-9 t ECG model. The logical reduction of mechanical components, the use of new AC technology and the new hydraulic system reduce maintenance to a minimum and ensure higher availability and better economic efficiency of electric forklifts. Overall costs are reduced by up to 30 percent.
