Sonae Arauco – specialized in the production and marketing of wood-based panels – has recently presented “BioReFiber X”, a new MDF panel designed to combine sustainability and innovation. Made with recycled MDF fibers and a resin derived from biomass, the new product replaces fossil raw materials with renewable resources, allowing a reduction of CO₂ emissions by up to 25 percent during the production process.
The new panel – which will be manufactured at the company’s plant in Mangualde, Portugal – is expected to reach the market in the second quarter of 2026.
“The development of this new product represents a balance between innovation and sustainability, both priorities for Sonae Arauco,” said Michael Betz, coo North-East Europe of the group. “We believe that the future of the sector lies in high-quality solutions that meet customer needs while respecting the principles of the circular economy and the ecological limits of our planet.”
The introduction of “BioReFiber X” – the company explains – is part of Sonae Arauco’s broader environmental sustainability strategy, which relies exclusively on wood from responsible sources and promotes a production model based on the circular economy.
