Biesse Group presented the new 2020 Sustainability Report. This comprenshive report that shows how the group’s attention to sustainability is translated into numbers that make concrete the contribution towards the main stakeholders and the environment. Compared to 2019, in fact, Co2 emissions fell by 70 percent. An important figure, also in light of the 4,893 tons of Co2 avoided thanks to the purchase of 100 percent of electricity from renewable sources and with guarantees of origin. In addition, Biesse has installed 16,500 square meters of photovoltaic panels, which have made it possible to reduce Co2 emissions by 560 tons.
With regard to attention to stakeholders and the territory, total revenues in 2020 amount to € 570 million and the distributed economic value of € 534 million; with regard to the 1,500 people who have worked in the Biesse Group for more than 10 years, 95 per cent on an indefinite basis, 97 per cent of the Senior management was hired locally, 60 thousand hours of training were provided at all levels. Finally, 89 percent of purchases come from local suppliers.
Moreover, Biesse Group’s commitment to all aspects of sustainability, ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance), was recently recognised and rewarded by the ‘Leaders in Sustainability’ study sponsored by Sole 24 Ore and carried out by Statista which places Biesse Group among the top 150 companies in Italy. It was similarly recognised by the first Italian ESG Report carried out by V-Finance (Ir Top Consulting) analysing the Sustainability Reports and the Non-Financial Statements (NFSs) of all the Italian companies listed on the Italian Stock Exchange (376) in their respective markets (MTA, FTSE Mib and AIM). The analysis was conducted in relation to the SASB Materiality Map® industry standards in five areas: environment, social capital, human capital, business model & innovation, leadership & governance, and Biesse Group came out on top in the Human capital and Business model & innovation categories.
