“We warmly welcome the publication of the “Renovate Wave Strategy“ (published and promoted on October 14 by the European Commission ndr.)”, say in a press release Eos, the European organization of the wood industry, supported by its associates and member federations, and Epf (European Panel Federation), Efbww (Eurioean Federation of Building and Woodworkers), Cei–Bois (European Confederation of Woodworking Industries), Fep (European Federation of the Parquet Industry).

The objective of the “Renovate Wave Strategy” is to promote a process of environmental protection, resorting to the use of recyclable materials, natural sources, the reduction of the use of polluting materials and a progressive decarbonisation, in line with the objectives of the European green deal and its promotion of the sustainable circular economy.

In particular, the federations agree with several points of this strategy, including the proposal to create a new European Bauhaus, in which materials such as wood, less polluting, can play a crucial role; the creation of new jobs and the use of recycled materials and reuse as a focal point. In addition, the federations agree with the reduction of carbon emissions in construction and the promotion of environmental sustainability through the use of natural-based products, such as wood, and an approach to “life cycle assessment” (which we recently talked about in this article). Not only that, in the “Renovate Wave Strategy” you can also see the starting point that puts at the center of new building terms often used, but not always pursued objectives, such as reuse, recycling and restructuring.

A clear goal: to reverse the course and make Europe greener by 2050 with wood at the center of the project.
