20/05/2026

Around thirty experts from EPF member companies gathered last week at the Finsa Fibranor plant in Lugo, Spain, to share experiences and best practices in fire prevention and risk management for worker safety.

The first day of the meeting, held on May 12, 2026, was devoted to a visit to the factory, with particular attention to the measures adopted to reduce the risk of fires and other incidents. Participants appreciated the organization of MDF production, as well as the cleanliness standards and safety precautions in place at the site.

The following day, discussions focused on photovoltaic systems installed at wood-based panel manufacturing facilities. The exchange centered on the prevention, protection and training requirements needed to ensure the safe integration of these technologies. EPF will continue this work in the coming months, with the aim of supporting companies in improving existing systems and planning new installations.

The meeting concluded with presentations by ATEX Explosion Protection and REMBE, dedicated to solutions for the prevention and protection against fires and explosions.

The next meeting of the EPF Fire and Safety Task Force will take place in Bevern, Germany, at the invitation of member company group Egger.
