25/02/2025

The European Panel Federation (Epf) has announced the appointment of Matti Rantanen as its new Managing Director, a role he will officially assume on May 5, 2025.

Rantanen, 40, currently serves as Director General of the European Paper Packaging Alliance (EPPA). A Finnish national, he has extensive experience in trade associations and politics, having previously held the position of Managing Director at the Federation of Envelopes, Light Packaging, and E-commerce Packaging (FEPE). He holds a degree in business administration from Turku University of Applied Sciences and has been living in Brussels since 2014.

Rantanen will succeed Clive Pinnington, who has decided to step down at the end of June 2025. Pinnington, 59, joined Epf in 2015 following a successful career in the industrial sector, notably serving as Senior Vice-President at a multinational adhesives and resins company specializing in wood-based panels. During his ten-year tenure, he played a key role in advancing the federation’s objectives, combining technical expertise with advocacy skills. He has announced his intention to pursue new professional opportunities and spend more time with his family in London.
