Forests at the heart of global dialogue: Coffi 2025 and New Insights on Resilience and Innovation

15/07/2025

From the future of forest trade to climate resilience and innovation, the 83rd session of the Unece Committee on Forests and the Forest Industry (Coffi) is set to open in Geneva from 4 to 6 November 2025. With registration details coming soon, the event promises to bring together key players in forestry and policy.

In parallel, Unece has released the study “Boreal Forests – A Global Treasure”, shedding light on the vital role of boreal forests in carbon storage, biodiversity, and supporting rural livelihoods.

Meanwhile, the forest sector community remains active with projects on pest control using beneficial insects, conservation of cork oak forests, and new practices like “evolution-oriented forestry”, which balances natural selection with biodiversity conservation.

Also on the agenda: webinars, global conferences, and leadership programs for young forestry professionals, all part of a busy calendar addressing sustainability, bioeconomy, and policy challenges for forests under pressure.
