Italy Sees Rising Glued Laminated Timber Imports in First Five Months of 2025

From January to May 2025, Italy imported 275,000 m³ of glued laminated timber, marking a 5 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024. According to Eurostat data, this is the third-highest volume ever recorded for the country.

Austria remains the main supplier, with 230,000 m³ (+3 percent), accounting for over 80% of the total imports. Following are Germany (11,000 m³, +12 percent), Latvia (6,400 m³, -6 percent) and Slovakia (5,600 m³, +198 percent).

The increase in imports reflects a growing demand for sustainable and innovative construction materials in the Italian building sector.
