SCM for Barausse: high techonlogies for new applications
Barausse has long been one of the distinguished names in Italian design for doors, boiserie and integrated interior systems, a company that combines artisanal expertise and industrial innovation in 100 percent “made in Italy” production. Founded in 1967 and grown to collaborate with architects and international clients on prestigious projects, this company from North-Eastern Italy has never been just a simple door manufacturer: every solution is designed to transform space, blending aesthetics and functionality into a coherent and recognizable formal language.

In recent years, this focus on quality and customization has led Barausse to rely on advanced SCM technologies, the Rimini-based giant specialized in solutions for wood processing, to strengthen its production capacity and open up to new applications, including the adoption of a sanding machine equipped with a laser unit that expands finishing and detailing possibilities on sophisticated materials. Aesthetics, well-being and functionality are precisely the key concepts underpinning Barausse’s history and growth.
“We develop and offer furnishing solutions designed to divide spaces, characterized by materials and finishes of high prestige and aesthetic value,” says Manuel Barausse, the company’s CEO. “We operate worldwide in the development of luxury hotel projects, public facilities, business and residential buildings, including prestigious private villas, thanks to an advanced ability to design custom products, backed by numerous fire-door certifications and decades of experience in the contract sector. Our finishes stand out for the care devoted to materials, their sensory value and the sophistication of the workmanship. All under the banner of beauty, sustainability and well-made products.”
From small projects to major contracts, the key word is customization. “Product customization,” Barausse continues, “is undoubtedly a major critical factor in the development of every project, because it involves the technical department, new certifications — where required — and new and updated procurement systems.”
Despite this, the company has managed to stand out in the market. “Our goal is to offer pioneering solutions, always capable of satisfying our clients. That is why finishes are our strong point.”
While customization, aesthetics and refinement guide product development, innovation, efficiency and productivity characterize the company’s technological approach. Barausse has progressively updated its production processes, improving organization and the technologies employed in order to enhance processing times and the quality of the finished product, with attention to sustainability aspects.

SCM technologies
For decades, Barausse has invested in multiple SCM solutions. With its most recent purchases, the Veneto-based company has taken a further leap in quality, broadening its market target and opening up to new, multiple and unexpected applications.
These include two automatic “dmc system” sanding machines: one was selected to raise the finished product’s quality level, while the other is equipped with one of SCM’s latest patented solutions for “dmc” sanding, namely the exclusive laser unit that makes it possible to carry out, in a continuous-flow process, three-dimensional markings and finishes of great aesthetic value.
“The laser technology of this sanding machine,” Manuel Barausse continues, “has enabled us to bring to the market even more exclusive and competitive solutions, as well as to open up new collaborations with internationally renowned engineering and design studios for the creation of customized products that will be used in their upcoming prestigious projects.”
The first highly original results were showcased during Barausse’s participation in the Salone del Mobile 2025 and confirmed the ambition of this entrepreneurial company.
“We want to go where others are not yet positioned. We want to become increasingly leading players in customization, while keeping our values and our desire to evolve intact. Always. New projects are taking shape and we are proud to embrace ever new challenges.”

Other SCM technologies
The partnership with SCM extends beyond sanding. The door production process begins with a “sergiani las” press that guarantees high productivity performance (around one door every 20 seconds).
The process then continues on a “stefani” edge-banding line with “mahros” systems for automatic loading and unloading. The highly flexible line allows the loading of multiple stacks made up of panels of different sizes and profiles. Through barcode reading, the supervisor automatically manages the different machining operations.

More recently, with the expansion of the Barausse product range, this line has been complemented by another edge-banding solution, “stefani md”. This machine is dedicated to processing panels mainly intended for boiserie and partition elements. It is more geared toward just-in-time production of small batches and combines the advantage of high customization and versatility with high efficiency, thanks to the automatic panel return system “Fastback 21”, which allows flow management with a single operator.
SCM’s laser unit
Is the market asking for increasingly customized finishes? SCM responds with the automatic sanding and calibrating machine “dmc system”, equipped with an exclusive laser unit that makes it possible to create three-dimensional markings on parquet, wooden elements, MDF panels to be enhanced, fiber cement and solid surfaces.
This unit represents an absolute innovation in sanding technology thanks to its continuous-flow working mode. The main advantages of this solution are increased productivity and the possibility of processing parts of any length; all this with a truly compact solution because, being integrated into the machine, the laser unit does not increase the occupied space.
Another important advantage is provided by the “Self-Refilling” technology, a distinctive plus of SCM’s laser unit. These are sources called “Never Ending Power”, which are recharged through the use of a cylinder that is replaced when the gas source runs out, thus guaranteeing the same process parameters and the same power over time, without interruptions to work.
With this innovative recharging technology, it is possible to have a laser source always at maximum power. The quality of the laser beam will always remain at the highest levels and the life of the laser source will be virtually endless.
Another major advantage is provided by the “eye-M” PC panel, through which it is possible to manage, program and set the laser’s working parameters thanks to a simple and user-friendly graphical interface. With just three modifiable working parameters, it is possible to define the marking level needed to guide the operator in an easy and intuitive way.
The system also enables real-time monitoring of the machining process via webcam. In parquet processing, it makes it possible to obtain geometric and abstract pattern markings and to mark even rough-hewn surfaces thanks to a dynamic beam focusing system.
On veneer, the laser unit is particularly suitable for the customization and enhancement of cabinet doors. On MDF panels, it allows embossed marking before moving on to painting or PVC coating using the “sergiani 3d form” 3D lamination press.
In fiber cement processing, the laser unit is ideal for the creation of walls and flooring, making it possible to enhance the surface with abstract and/or geometric markings or by replicating wood grain effects.
In the field of solid surfaces, it is possible to obtain striking enhancement and customization effects on materials such as Corian.
